Shell searching

Although MB has so much to offer, our main form of entertainment will be the beach. We will be staying in central/south myrtle beach, and I%26#39;m seeking any advice on finding shells. I%26#39;ve read that you can%26#39;t find shells in NMB, but how about South? Is there a certain time of day or particular area that%26#39;s best to look? Are shells usually found on the surface, or is it best to dig? What about shark teeth? I would appreciate any help or advice someone could give me.

Shelling is only OK along the Strand. The best hunting in my opinion is after the tide has gone out in the early morning when fewer people are on the beach. In my experience I can%26#39;t say any one area seems to be a standout. I have had excellent luck at various times for sharks teeth around the 2nd Ave. Pier. A beach renourishment project several years back brought a lot of sand up from deeper water and deposited it on the beach. My belief is the sand brought with it a lot of sharks teeth and broken shells.

You can find seashells clear up through the strand even in NMB! I dont know where you got that from but my friend has stayed at NMB for 16 years probably and she comes back with 5 or 6 bags full of them. Well just thought I would tell you.

HAVE A NICE STAY :)~
