Is this a good destination for a Girls' Getaway?

I am planning a trip for three of my closest law school friends. We are all late-20s females, single, who%26#39;d like to enjoy warm weather and the outdoors, as well as explore a historical city. The existence of nightlife options would be a plus as well. We are planning to take our trip in early June. Could anyone recommend moderately priced, conveniently located hotels in Charleston. And, also, your comments on whether Charleston is a good Girls%26#39; Getaway destination would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I%26#39;m also in my late 20s and I LOVE Charleston and think it would be a great place to go w/ my girlfriends. It sounds like it pretty much fits your description -- lots of historic buildings and great architectures. Also has some fun bars and amazing food ... definitely spring for a couple of really nice dinners when you are there (Penninsula Grill and 82 Queen are my favorites; 82 Queen is more affordable.) Really quaint.

If you don%26#39;t mind cigar smoke, go to my favorite Charleston bar, the Habana Club on Meeting Street. You might not notice it from the street (it%26#39;s on the second floor) but look for a cigar shop called the Tinder Box and it%26#39;s upstairs from that (you have to go in the shop and take the stairs). It%26#39;s a pretty low-key bar with a good atmosphere and great martini menu -- lots of fun girly drinks. There were some other places I don%26#39;t remember as well, but there are all kinds of 20-something waiters and hotel clerks who can give you names and locations.

Charleston is a very walkable city so pretty much anything in the historic district would probably be walking distance from the bars and restaurants you%26#39;d want to go to. I%26#39;ve never stayed there, but the Holiday Inn Historic District gets good reviews and is probably pretty cheap. There are also great B%26amp;Bs all over the place so if you play around on the Internet you%26#39;ll find something.

Oh, and one last thing ... Charleston in early June will be HOT. Not so hot that you shouldn%26#39;t go, but be prepared for it. It%26#39;s the south, afterall.

you will love charleston, lots of fun activities, history and good places to party... i am in my 40%26#39;s but host a girls get together there every year.. and my friends like to have fun.. i would recommend staying on meeting near king and the market.. all the good clubs / restaurants and activities are within walking distance. great restaurants include hanks, rue de jean, cintra, carolinas, and high cotton.. lots of clubs / bars etc line king and east bay. take a gullah tour or black history tour, they are the most interesting. dont do any tours longer than 90 min, its usually just fill after that point.. have fun and make sure your hotel has a pool,, ITS HOT IN JUNE.

Charleston is a great place for a get together.

And it will be fantastic from May 27 until June 12 when the Spoleto Festival (with the more expensive events) and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival (with the cheaper or free events) are going on concurrently in the historic district!! You will never have had it so good. It%26#39;s intensive immersion in the arts...first rate classical music, jazz, opera, dance, theatre, art, poetry, lectures, outdoor festivals, fireworks... and more.

The down side is that hotel prices go up during Spoleto, and rooms in the historic district of Charleston may be difficult, but not impossible, to get. But you can always stay cheaper across the river in Mt. Pleasant and drive into the city.
