I%26#39;m putting together an itinerary for our trip this week (1 day and 2 1/2 days) and would like some opionons/suggestions:
Wednesday: Arrive in afternoon and check in at Hampton Inn-Mt. Pleasant. Drive downtown and walk around. See the shops (are they open during the week or just on Saturday Market) Considering stopping by bar at Market Pavillion hotel for drinks and view.
Dinner at either-
1. Fish
2. Middleton Place (can get in gardens free after 5:30, anyone know the price range for dinner?)
Thursday: AM See USS Yorktown and Ft. Sumter (is 1/2 day enough time?)
Lunch ??? Any Suggestions?
Afternoon: Tour around historic homes or go to the aquarium
Dinner: Somewhere nice for our anniversary, I was considering Magnolia%26#39;s
Friday: We only have 1/2 day. What else is a MUST that we can do?
Limited time, what to do?
The aqaurium is a very pleasant area. And if you have never seen an IMAX theater, it%26#39;s right there in the same area. It would take up some time, but it%26#39;s a fun thing. I think the boat ramp for Ft. Sumter is right next to the aquarium, so you could manage both with no traveling around time wasted. Part of the Port of Charleston is next to the aquarium and you can watch the big container ships being unloaded from CLOSE up. There is also a place to eat in the same complex.
I would go to the aqaurium/FortSumter and then if there was time, see the USS Yorktown and back into Charleston to see the homes.

I think your itinerary looks good - if not a little full. My view on the aquarium is that it should be last on your list. It%26#39;s mediocre as aquariums go - you can see them all over the country. The Yorktown will give you a great appreciation for the men who fought in WW II . really, go with your interests - history? shopping? nature? dining? Did you mention a carriage ride downtown? That%26#39;s a great way to see the old city. And - to answer your shops questions - yes they will be open. Enjoy.
Thanks! I think I%26#39;ve got the Wednesday schedule down. Thursday am we%26#39;ll go to see Ft. Sumter and Yorktown (I forgot to mention what a history buff my husband is-that is a must for us!)
Lunch: I still don%26#39;t know
Afternoon we%26#39;ll probably walk around to see historic homes
What should we see on Friday am?
Forgot to mention the wednesday schedule:
Arrive, check in, go shopping. Go to middleton place at 5:00-5:15 dinner at 7 pm. They said their entrees are between $20-29. So that%26#39;s about as much as getting in anyway ($20).
