First time visiting-staying in Palmetto Dunes end of July, what is your fav must do when in Hilton Head?

We really loved Hunting Island State Park as a change of pace. Drive to Beaufort where Prince of Tides was filmed, have lunch on the boardwalk, and then enjoy the afternoon on a beautiful expanse of beach. Last week there were a few brave souls in the water, but it would be positively glorious in the summer.
Fodors.com actually has a good list of sights and activities. Since we spent two days in Charleston and a day in Savannah, we found our week in Hilton Head went by very quickly.
But of course that only gives us a reason to return!

Check out Daufuskie Island, Pat Conroy once thaught there. It is like stepping back in time. Just a one hour boat ride, and the rest of the day you can explore with bikes, golf carts, or horses.
Great spa and golf courses if you are also looking for those things. Just a wonderful place
