Sands Ocean Club Resort-Help?

We are planning a family trip in August and are considering staying at the Sands Ocean Club resort. We would be renting directly from an owner of a condo at this resort. We have 3 children ages 7, 10 and 2. It is so hard choosing a place without actually seeing it in person. I would appreciate any helpful input about this resort. We don%26#39;t want to end up somewhere that is not clean or family friendly for a whole week. Is this resort close to amusements, restaurants and shopping? Also what is the weather like in August?

I just read a review that said it was sold in january and the have made alot of improvements. and the person enjoyed thier stay. Usually owner rented are nicer than hotel rooms. hope this helps .

I stayed at Ocean Dunes this weekend which is part of the Sands resorts, it was awful! (Dingy and staff very rude). I would recommend Sea Watch (a Fairfield resort) if you want a condo, or Sea Mist which has a nice water park for the kids. Try the Timeshare Users Group at www.tug1.org for rental info, there are usually several available at Myrtle Beach.

I stayed here over Easter weekend and I will never stay there again. We were on the 8th floor which was the condo part of it. It was dirty and I don%26#39;t recommend it. The only good thing about this place is Ocean Annie%26#39;s, the outside bar in which you could hear the music past dark. And the elevators were scary. You had to wait in them for 10 minutes and then you didn%26#39;t know if the doors were going to open! It may have just been my room but I have heard other people say how dirty the place is! Beware!!!!!
