spoleto festival during memorial day weekend- any feedback?
Spoleto is the best festival I%26#39;ve been to. There is so much to do that it is an experience of intensive immersion in the arts. Many people go to the festival but Charleston is big enough to handle the crowd. Yes, you can get reservations in restaurants.
There are some chain hotels that are very conveniently located in the historic district for festival activities: Day%26#39;s Inn, Best Western%26#39;s King Charles, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn are some that come to mind. Those probably offer the best prices. There are multiple other more luxurious hotels at higher prices. Essentially any hotel in the historic district would be a convenient location.
The Spoleto Festival and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival are two distinct festivals that run concurrently in Charleston%26#39;s historic district. All the Spoleto schedule is on the web. But not all of the Piccolo schedule is on the web. When you get to Charleston go the Galliard Municipal Auditorium at 77 Calhoun St. and pick up the schedule book for Piccolo and buy whatever tickets you want. Tickets are cheaper there than from Ticketmaster. The Piccolo schedule never seems to be available until immediately before the festival starts so it probably won%26#39;t be possible to get it by mail. The Piccolo web site doesn%26#39;t contain all Piccolo%26#39;s events. Only the schedule book has them all.
These are the web sites:

Do go. And enjoy the festivals.
