North myrtle condo

My family is looking for a nice 4 bedroom condo in NMB. We like Oceanfront. Past visits we stayed at Ocean Creek and loved it. This time Grandpa is joining us and we would like one more room. Looking at Windy Hill Dunes, Crescent Shores, Crescent Keyes, and South Shore Villas. Can%26#39;t make a decision. Any insights would be appreciated.

North myrtle condo

Hi! I am in an identical situation. I recently booked at South Shore Villas, based almost exclusively on their new construction status.

However, to ensure that I have not just set myself up for 7 vacation days of ardent critiquing, I am visiting South Shore Villas next week to get a live perspective. I will post findings Wednesday.

Stay tuned :)

North myrtle condo

I just returned from staying at crescent shores (week of March 10). We stayed in Unit 606, which is a beautiful height to view the ocean. We used Elliott realty they are terrific.

Except for the jacuzzi being cold and the excercise room only having a few machines the place is perfect. Not overcrowded now, close to everything. Beach walks are great. Condo units are relatively new and very clean. We would go back!

Good Luck!

We stayed at Crescent Shores Sept 3 - 10, 2004. Beautiful condo. Roomy, nice view, nice pool. Couple of thins we disliked were (would not keep me from staying again if others not available - just nuisances). None caused us to not have a great time.

1. Parking - for the most part was a across street. Some on site but being a busy week hard to find one on site.

2 Wait for elevators due to being number of people.

3. 2 buildings for 1 pool and 1 lazy river at times very crowded and chairs were at a premium.

We booked this year at South Shore Villas (not as many units - same amenities), Square footage appears to be slightly larger. Look forward to hearing review from PowderHound/

Following remarks exclusively address South Shore Villas.

One word review: disappointing. Two word review: gravely disappointing.

South Shore Villas are still in the process of closing so I was privy to walk-thru an unfurnished penthouse 4 BR/3 BTH. Unit itself is OK, not great, certainly NOT in the genre of ';luxurious';. Entrance ceiling is truncated and low, eventually rising slightly as you hit living room. Blown (';popcorn';) ceiling throughout. Kitchen fixtures are white, not stainless (as occasionally promoted). Maple cabinets complete the room. Baths are nice enough with granite tops and brushed stainless hardware. Where these touches read well, they never achieve an impressive quality in person. Lighting fixtures are very base; I was stunned to see a cheap strip/bar light fixture in the baths. This is plausible in a 20 year-old unit, but not new construction. This decision is the singular design summation of the building.

Anticipated argument: ';well, we are coming for the beach; we can overlook some condo weaknesses.'; The beach was more unsettling as a street rain runoff drain empties immediately onto the beach in front of South Shore Villas. I lay out on the beach because lying in the street never seemed appealing. A friendly summer shower will bring street gunk directly to your vacation beach.

Poker players may now sense that I am not a fan of this condo. The area around the building is deplorable. Directly across the street a vacant lot sports turned over rusted newspaper boxes and construction equipment. A cheap two-story motel is immediate neighbor and another cheap motel is across the street. There is NOTHING within walking distance; beneficially, this is not all bad as the area has a prevalent unsafe feeling.

Any upside? Though both very small, the lazy river and pool are well designed and attractive. Unfortunately, neither could support many people.

South Shore Villas are averagely appointed, and based in a very unsavory area. I cannot begin to venture the demographic to which these would appeal. They are not bargain priced but offer an insultingly low standard. This is NOT a family area, no matter how tough your family is NOR how mad you are at them.

Sorry, guys keep looking. Your vacation is not to be found at this Villa.

Your description of the property has made me nervous. Husband felt we were running out of time so we booked at the South Shore Villas because it is new. Now I don%26#39;t know what to do. Is their anyone out there that has stayed at the Villas now that they are opened?

If the units are clean why worry about the lighting fixtures? Never heard of that. If the units are new I am sure they will be OK. Go and have a good time. I have stayed in Myrtle Beach for vacations for 30 years and only stayed in one hotel that I didn%26#39;t car for, and, in retrospect, that was actually OK too. Go and have a good time. You%26#39;re not buying it, only staying there for a week. I%26#39;m sure everyone will be thrilled.

That%26#39;s what my son said. If the beach isn%26#39;t nice there we can always walk down to a nicer area. Still when you are spending over $2000 for a place to stay, you want it to be nice.

Try Beachcomber Vacation rentals - we stayed at Nautical Watch - in Windy Hill. We went with several couples, so we had to rent more than 1, but they%26#39;re side by side - or a couple of doors away from one and other, so it wasn%26#39;t bad at all.

The floor plans are more open, it makes for less privacy - but there are two balconies, two full bathrooms - so it wasn%26#39;t so bad.

Good luck.

We are in a similar situation too. We are staying at Ocean Creek South Towers and grandma and grandpa are staying in Ocean Creek Lodges. I hear the Ocean Bay Club has beautiful four bedroom condos.
