Thinking ahead - October in the South

We are a young(ish) couple flying in from London to explore Charlston, Savannah and somewhere else. We are toying with Hiltons Head, but maybe there is somewhere we should be thinking about.

Thinking ahead - October in the South

Hilton Head is a good location but is still two hours from Charleston so you may want to plan at least two nights in Charleston itself to truly experience it. Savannah is an hour from Hilton Head so you are not as limited that way. Both are charming southern cities with identities all their own. We liked both but I think you would find more to do in the Charleston area.

Why not fly into Charleston, see the sites and then spend the rest of the holiday in Hilton Head, touring the area including Savannah. Check out frommers.com and fodors.com for overviews of the area, top 10 sites, etc. We loved it when we were there in April.
