hwy 17 South/Savannah hwy. area??

Hey all! I have been to Chs. many time, stayed in N.Chs. once (never again) and in Mt. Pleasant many times. Mt. Pleasant seem ';pleasant'; enough, not scary. Have been checking out hotels and find that many of the lower priced ones are on the other side (Savannah hwy. S)------am wondering about this area? Is is ';scary'; like N. Charleston? Sad to say, I%26#39;ve never checked out this side much, except driving through to get the the Ashley River Rd. Any insight on the Best Western Sweetgrass?

TIA!!

You can look at a description of the hotel itself over there on the left hand side %26lt;----

As for the area, it%26#39;s fine. The neighborhood behind it ain%26#39;t great but Savannah Hwy is a busy place. There is a K-mart across the street. An IHOP nearby. Bessinger%26#39;s BBQ is real close by.

Personally, I wouldn%26#39;t have any problems staying there or any of the hotels in the area. There%26#39;s a Holiday Inn express a bit farther down the street which might fall in your price range.

Trust me, it ain%26#39;t near as bad as N. Chas.

Thanks Floski! You live in Charleston??? I%26#39;m so jealous! I need to live there awhile to get her out of my system!! I get withdrawels symptoms if I haven%26#39;t been recently, 2001 was my last visit. :o( Looks like the weather is still great there, not too hot yet. Yes, the Sweetgrass sounds quite adequate, I know there have been some negative reviews, but you%26#39;ll have that. Thanks agian, it%26#39;s great to get the ';local perspective';!

You%26#39;re welcome, chick.

I%26#39;ve been to many different countries and I have always

felt that Charleston was better than any of them (although

Heidleberg gives it a good run).

I have been blessed to live in a city this beautiful with very nice citizens (well, for the most part). She does indeed grow on you. Make sure you go downtown and just walk. If you see an alley, go down it (in the nice areas, of course) - you never know what you%26#39;ll find. There are some awesome cemetaries in this old town.

I hope you have a blast on your visit!
