I was just on the Trip Advisor web site and noticed a couple of comments on the Carribean Resort. A group of four of us are going there in September. I was the one who researched as much as I could thru the internet and chose the Carribean. Not sure of some of the reviews, especially one posted along with everyones%26#39; (See below). . . I told our group that I did the best I could, as far as checking it out with the reviews etc. and couldn%26#39;t guarantee
what we might get when we get down there. :-) or :-(

This COULD be a great resort. They have a nice pool, lazy river, spacious rooms, poolside snack bar, good location, etc. But the place is just dirty. Housekeeping is cursory and service stinks. They just want you to hand over the money at check-in and then keep your mouth shut and not bother them! There are never enough lounge chairs around the pool, so people start saving them around 8 a.m. There is no evidence of employed help around the place at all.
Did you think it was dirty, or are these people too critical. Also, any recommended Restaurants? We are going for a Golf Vacation, so will be on the golf courses more than the pool area. But curious of the lazy rivers and pools - busy times - drinks served nearby/bar?
First Time-Myrtle Beach
Now she has to be OUT OF HER MIND because I was down there not very long ago and it was nice and clean and they service was nice. But just to be sure my cousin lives close to there and I can have him stop by there because he owns a room and have him check it out for you if you would fell better. I will get back to you maybe as soon as later probably today sometime. OK
First Time-Myrtle Beach
Thnaks for the info. Has anyone stayed there to tell us some other info . . . . lazy rivers, bars dining?
This is my experience at the Caribbean Resort, the rooms were very clean, however, our room faced the pool and I found out that it was very noisy, a spring break crowd if you will. In the morning around 6:00 there were beer bottles smashed around the pool and a lot of young children without adult supervision. If you do not mind noise then this should be okay with you.
Restaurants: Margaritaville, Hamburger Joe%26#39;s, Oscar%26#39;s, Creek Ratz, (have not been here but recommended) Umberto%26#39;s. By the way we vacationed here in August (2 years ago) and stayed only one night.
My family has made the trip to Myrtle Beach at least once a year(sometimes twice) for the past 6 summers. Between our two families we have stayed in several resorts- all on the beach. We have never used the Carribean but they send me brochures every year and it seems nice. Ive found that generally the hotels at the north end of the strip are newer, bigger, spaced a bit further apart and somewhat less costly. The Ocean Dunes/Sand Dunes complex was one of the first we stayed in and still one i really love. It has a lot of amenities and always been very reasonably priced. It has its own fun water park and a good burger joint attached as well as ice cream and California Pizza right inside Ocean Dunes. They also have a great kids program. If you end up there on one of your trips with little ones check it out. Mine had a great time. Last couple of trips both families stayed at Compass Cove. Its further south %26amp; a bit older and more worn than those Sands resorts. It is closer to the good shark teeth hunting sections of the beach though and rooms were bigger (towards the end of the summer you can get a suite for 100-sleeps 6). It has several pools, lazy rivers, but not as many other amenities. There is no real restaurant on site (breakfast only). Good luck with your pick. Ive been wondering about that Carribean Resort so please post after you get back and let us know what you thought of it.
MOM4BOYS - Thank you so much for the Restaurant information, plus the room info. - settles my mind as far as the cleaniness! As far as the noise - we%26#39;ll cross our fingers that will be up high enough to avoid the ';excess pool noise'; - mind you, it will be the 2nd week in September and kids will be back to school.
One of my picks for a Restaurant was Margaritaville. My husband wants to go to a good seafood restaurant - we hear that the Sea Captains is next door to the resort - any reviews on that one??
BANDAIDBABY - we won%26#39;t be taking any children, but thanks for the info. I have printed your msg. - and we%26#39;ll keep it for a future trip - sounds like a lot of people return every year!! I will let everyone know what I thought of the Carribean and other places we go to when we return.
We stayed at the Caribbean the last two years and loved it! The lazy river is nice, pools are cleaned every morning. Housekeeping service is great. As for the employees, they are everywhere. Gary the pool guy comes by several times a day to check the chlorine level and the trash outside is changed several times.
The Sea Captain%26#39;s House is rated #1 in MB. They are expensive for dinner, I have heard it is good. The breakfast buffet is inexpensive and great (Pancakes, crisp bacon, biscuits, cereal, milk, omletes, scrambled eggs, home fries, french toast, biscuit gravy, plus you get juice and coffee for about $5-$6) We ate there most mornings
Location is great. Take a right out of the parking deck, take a right on the next road, head straight and in no time you are at Broadway at the Beach.
We are staying at the Breakers Paradise Tower this year for a change and bigger Lazy River, but will really miss the Caribbean. The Breakers is only 8 blocks away (21st Ave. bordering the other side of BATB, a plus) so we can drive by and visit the Caribbean. :)
Excited Concerned
You will enjoy Margaritaville, it was so much fun, the food was really good too. Alot goes on inside the restaurant alot of fun, people on stilts, music (we are huge Jimmy Buffet fans so we really enjoyed this place.) My aunt of 75 years old can not wait to go back this year it was one of her favorite places. There is also a Margaritaville store. Another place we enjoyed and I do not think I mentioned it was Sticky Fingers, near Grand Coastal Mall. Have a great time.
we have been to Myrtle Beach the last 3 years, have stayed at the Sand Dunes resort which we did like, liked the location. We were going between that and the Caribbean. My only comment on the Carribean when we checked it out, at high tide there was not much beach at all. Every year have gone to the Sea Captains restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal with a beautiful view. Last year they added an outdoor patio which faces the ocean which was a nice place to wait, have a drink and they had live music.
