We will be staying in Surfside Beach over the 4th of July. Where is the best place to watch fireworks? Will we need to go to Myrtle Beach to see them? Also, do you have any recommendations regarding parasailing? How long does it take to drive from Myrtle Beach to Surfside Beach? One more thing. I have a 19 and a 17 year old. Anything they should definitely do while we%26#39;re there? Thanks for any help you can give!
4th of JulyNot positive they still do the fireworks but the Sunspree Holiday Inn in Surfside used to do fireworks. Depending on traffic 15 to 30 minutes to MB from Surfside.
4th of JulyYou could go to Murells Inlet and watch the 4th of July Boat parade at 5pm (decorated boats) very nice alot of fun. Then have dinner many nice resteraunts. Then they have fireworks right there 1-843-651-5675 for directions and more information. Also good waterpark in surfside wildwater amusement center. www.wild-water.com . Pavillion area in Myrtle Beach is great for teenagers plenty to do. rides, bungie jumping ,parasailing, haunted houses, ripleys museum, 4d movies. this is about 20-30 minutes away from surfside.
We spend a lot of time in Surfside and on the 4th, we usually buy our own fireworks and set them off on the beach while watching the all the other fireworks. (setting off fireworks is illegal in Surfside, but you would never know it!)There is a fireworks display down in Georgetown that we went to one year but it is not worth the long drive. Check the papers for firework displays in Myrtle. There is a huge crowd at MB over the 4th and we have not ventured up there to see the fireworks.
It is about a 15 min drive to Broadway at the Beach in MB most of the time, but during that week I would say 30 mins. 30min to 1 hr to get to MB pavillion area during that time of year.
Teens might like Broadway at the Beach, big shopping area with Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium, IMAX Theatre, Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet%26#39;s restaurant). In case of rain, new mall, Coastal Grand has a great new move theatre. Parasailing, House of Blues, Hard Rock, MB Pavillon, deep sea fishing, golf. There is a great little par 3 golf course on HWY 17 in Surfside called Tupelo Bay. Right in Surfside be sure to eat at Nibils at the Surfside Pier, good for breakfast lunch or dinner. Also like Bubba%26#39;s Fish shack and River City Cafe all right near pier. Gulfstream Cafe and Sara J%26#39;s in Garden City are good. Oh, and definitely order pizza from Ultimate California Pizza. Sooo good.
Just keep in mind the huge crowds when heading out for dinner, or anywhere for that matter.
